Finding family far from home
Family is sometimes found in places we never thought to look. It may begin with a simple invitation, a shared meal, a neighbor who checks in, or a friendship that slowly becomes something deeper. Far from familiar surroundings, these small acts of welcome can carry unusual weight. They can transform a new place from somewhere we are simply living into somewhere we feel known.
There is something powerful about discovering belonging beyond the boundaries we expected. People from different countries, backgrounds, and stories can become part of the same circle of care. Over time, strangers become friends, and friends begin to feel like family. These relationships do not replace the people or places we came from. Instead, they expand our understanding of home and remind us that belonging can be built wherever people make space for one another.
